Re: Turkey Day!!
mmmmmmm! Turkey, dressing, giblet gravy, ham, mashed taters, english peas, sweet tater casserole, green bean casserole, pintos, turnip greens, broccoli casserole, sweet tea, rolls, naner puddin', peach cobbler, PE-CAN pie, chocolate pie......and that's only the ones I can remember! LOL Dat's how we do Thanksgiving...then repeat at Christmas! Then sit around and watch Football games!!!
But first thing in the morning, I'm heading out to an elderly ladies home to take her some food. In my office, we see what some of the elderly live on each year and it really is heartbreaking. I honestly don't know how they survive. And if I can help them, I'm going to. I feel like I'm blessed to have what I have, although it's not a lot compared to most....but if I can help someone else, I'd rather do that. That's the best gift in the world! HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Re: Turkey Day!!
And a word of advice from my great aunt... When you think you're full, just loosen your belt, unbuckle your pants, each a stick of celery, and start all over again! (She was not a think woman when she passed away. But, she was happy!)
Happy Thanksgiving! Special thanks to those serving overseas and others doing things for those less fortunate.

Re: Turkey Day!!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on the forum.
Take a moment to reflect on at least one thing you're truly thankful for, and share that thought with someone close. Either a spouse, family member, or someone you just feel close to. Eat until you think you're going to burst, and then top that with a dessert of choice. And if you're traveling, cage or scoot, please be safe, we want all our great members to be back for more fun, information, and sharing after the turkey's long become a carcass in the trash bin! (just to start the sharing).... I'm thankful that my uncle has made it to this holiday, he was recently diagnosed with leukemia, and was given only a couple of weeks survival. He's gone 6 weeks past that, and though he's definitely on a day counting schedule (he's terminal, no altering that)... the fact that he's made it to this day, to share with his family, is just one thing I'm thankful for. I have many more... but I'd hate to start to look like a Hallmark card commercial. |

Re: Turkey Day!!
Great idea DK!
I'm thankful that I still have my husband here. In 2005, he was having problems with 2 fingers on his right hand going numb and the nail beds were blue. Went to the doctor and they said Carpal Tunnel. I called and demanded they send him to a specialist. It turns out he had an aneurysm in his right shoulder. He was in the hospital 3 times that year and it was a very scary time for all of us. He's still walking around with a blood clot in his elbow, but they repaired the aneurysm and gave him back to me. I'm also thankful for all the men and women who give so tirelessly to protect us from those who hate us so much. I'm also thankful for all the wonderful friends I've made on this forum!

Re: Turkey Day!!
I'm thankful first and foremost to God because none of what I have and what I am (for better or worse) would be possible without Him. Next to Jesus for taking my place on the cross. My Dear mother for putting up with me, my Dear wife for the same, my four great children who I am immensely proud of, my extended family and friends--including everyone reading this--my sometimes questionable health, the founding fathers for giving us this great country, all of my brothers and sisters in uniform--may they stay healthy and return home soon--, and last but not least the Davidsons and Mr. Harley for inventing one HELL of a motorcycle!!
