No harleys in the junk yard ?

I have joking offered that fact that you see alot of other bikes but few HD in junk yards.
This just proves you can sell any HD. I saw this at the S&s party in Lacrosse WI for sale. The bike is gone now .

Re: No harleys in the junk yard ?

There is a sizeable M/C bone yard in Phoenix, it is at least 5 acres packed with thousands of cheaper 100cc - 500cc bikes, dirtbikes quads, 60's thru 90's. In another section are higher end BMW's, Goldwings, Metric cruisers, Sportbikes and Harleys all in about equal numbers. The more recent yr higher end bikes are accident and theft recoverys, I guess even the older cheaper bikes are aquired by the same means. In 40 yrs of motorcycling and many biker friends I've never heard of anybody giving up any kind of motorcycle to a bone yard.

there are junk yards around that have metrics piled for as far as the eye can see.
Honda will not even work on a 10 year old bike with payment in advance if they will even do it then.

Re: No harleys in the junk yard ?

Most of the newer dealers won't work on 10 yr old HD's either. Most riders that keep old bikes around tend to fix them themselves. Most of the old timer dealers are withering on the vine and will soon be all gone.

My local harley dealer doesn't like working on my 1987 if they don't have to.

Re: No harleys in the junk yard ?

You know i have to wonder because Harley's like any other bike get wrecked.
I personally myself went down in 2005 totalling my 2003 softail standard so i figured i could find parts that i wanted off the old one, to put on the new 2005, at the salvage yards in the area. Nope!
does anyone know of any slavage yards that part out Harley's any where.
would be a good bit on info to know.

Re: No harleys in the junk yard ?

There is an all Harley bone yard down in sout Jersey, Williamstown, Nicks. He has stuff from the beginning. Last I delt with him was in the early 80's. someone from the phily so. Jersey area may ha ve his #. He used to buy out failingHD dealers before the HD comeback. I used to keep his card, I'll look in my archives. I don't live in Jersey anymore.
