Aileron grips install PN 56425-02
PN 56425-02 Fits 96 to 07 Models
Reason for changing them,30,000 miles on stock ones dirty hands and time had made them sticky and worn. Cost 53 dollars from dealer Time to install about 45 minutes with coffee Skill level caveman Tools Number 27 Torx and 25 Torx 2 3/8 open end wrench (To adjust cables) You may need some goo remover Little oil for cables The Hd instruction cover it all well. You should read up on throttle cable adjustment if you are not already up on that. Make sure you clean off any old glue or new ones may not slide on well. New ones require no glue. Do NOT lose small brass barrels for the Throttle cable ends, they are hard to find when they hit the floor. Cover fuel tank so you do not mark it up. This is a good time to lube up Throttle cables. If you mark bars were housing line up it will be much easier to get them right back were they were. So of us get use to were controls are and do not like them moved If you have never done this type work take your time make sure you do not force anything and do not pinch cables you will have no problems with it. Before ![]() Mark were they are ![]() remove ![]() Clean ![]() ![]() DO NOT LOSE ![]() ![]() HD instruction enlarge you can read them. ![]()

Smitty
More than likely you got it all back together but I would replace that ferrel. It looks stretched and will leave you stranded at the worst opportunity. Copied post to the self help area.

It was between them and SE set they own out I liked the flames ones but they did not seem to be the best for riding.

Re: Aileron grips install PN 56425-02
Thanks for posting you upgrade pictures. I plan on joining the "Aileron Club!" but first I'm only about 600 miles away from my 10'000 mile sevice and soon I'll need to replace my rear tire(hopefully the front one will make it throught the summer). More needs than funds rifgt now. Hopefully I'll be able to find a better price on the tire than the $168 plus $89 labor from the my H D dealer.

rear should run around 200 installed. Air presure is number one reason for early tier wear.

Glad it wasn't just me, took me longer to find the thing than to complete the job :-) |

It was time to replace the grips they were getting a bit worn. So far I like these we see how they feel when I leave Sinday.
