if you own a bike, a battery tender is a must. always attach the battery to a battery tender when not using the bike for more than 2 weeks. they are so important that they should come free with the bike!

Don't use bad advice. Too many opinions will really screw up your mind.

The FIRST purchase you should make at the dealer....The Factory Service Manual. Loads of great information in it.
Take the time to read up on it, you will be surprised what you will learn and what YOU will be able to do to YOUR bike.
In the long run it will save $$$$$
Edit: This will prevent you from doing things on or to your bike that is not recommended by the MoCo.

Put Easy Off on a rag, then use it to wipe. If you spray it on, the over spray will kill your paint.

Don't try to get that last little bit of gas in your tank, it usually goes ON your tank.

Never work on the bike without a manual
Never put too much anti-seize on the axles, that stuff is messy
and never touch the rotor with your bare hands after a ride...ouch.

Re: Things You Should Never Use On Or Do To Your Bike.

There are a lot of things that may or may not be a good idea. Many we could debate for years.
What I had hoped for was a list no madder how short or long of the things that all agree are just a plain NO.
The rainX is an example no madder how you frame it the stuff will mess the windshield up. Read the fine print it say not to use it on plastics.
In our search for the best for our rides no good dead goes unpunished. Some times we use the wrong products for the right reasons and it ends bad.
Loctite is another one great product when used were and how it should be. But put Red stuff on parts that do not call for it and you can have big problems. I have seen new Hd owners get the stuff out and go nuts. Because someone told them the HD would shake a part.
I know there are a few more 100% no/go's out there.
Like not putting DOT 5 brake fuild in a bike that calls for 4. the number 5 does not mean it is better. I was told that once by someone.
