I don't want to alarm anyone...BUT...

I was talking with a sales guy at AD Farrows in Columbus the other day. He told me that the police in Ohio are going to start running the plates on bikes they see on the road next year to make sure the operator is licensed.

Apparently in Ohio 6 in 10 motorcyclists are operating without a license.

Perhaps someone out there may know if this is true or not? Is this standard operating procedure in the state you are in?

There was a lot of it here this year a lot of impounding which is big $$$$ for people with out the cycle endorsement so wouldn't surprise me at all to see other states doing it

Can't see what the big deal is for not getting the endorsement anyhow. If you can't pass a state run riding test, you probably shouldn't be riding anyhow.
It sure ain't rocket science!!!! Get yourself legal and you have no worries.
Just sayin....

Makes sense, most states are running into the red due to their inability to take out loans to pay for their yearly budgets early in the year until their tax revenue starts coming in. Tickets and fines are a major revenue generator for the cities and the states, so during these hard times...better to be on your best behavior and legit...

Here's some more food for thought, I heard from quite a few of my friends in WV that the cops were pulling over groups of riders/or stopping when the group was stopped and checking helmets & license for DOT & endorsement. I heard that the fine for the non DOT helmet was $250, not sure about the other. I never experienced this, but just thought I would throw it out there for those of you in helmet law states.

In this day and age of police enforcement around the continent it really is kind of stupid to ride without a licence, so if you do don't whine about the consequences.JMO

GA is bad about having people riding with no license. Where i work there are 6 of us that ride and only 3 of us are legal.

I guess the real question here is why take the chance?...we all have loved ones and people who rely on us...and yes, even though it is a "big inch bike" and double my 600cc metric...why? Give your loved ones a gift to you from them!

I would say that the cost of retrieving your bike from impound and the towing not to mention the ticket you'll get should discourage you from riding without a license. It's no big deal to be legal and it costs much less too.
