*Twin Cam CV Carb Rejet Suggestions - 990 days old
These suggestions will also work on EVO carbed models too.
A tried and true for "most" carbs in twin cam bikes for rejetting with intake and exhaust mods would be on the low speed jet 45/46 (46 being the best usually), and on the high speed jet would be 185/190 (190 usually being stock). Install 2 - #4 washers (available in most... Read more

*Poor Performance With Carb Models - 947 days old
A lot of owners of Harley's that run carburetors have asked a question about poor performance, especially at the upper RPM ranges. The symptoms are that it is starving for fuel and will not accelerate past mid range or a bit higher.
The usual cause for this type of problem is a build up of sediment and scale from the fuel and the... Read more

CV Carburetor Jet Adjustment/Trouble Shooting - 965 days old
CV Carburetor Jet Adjustment
Our most common question about carburetor and Fuel Injection is "How do I know if my jetting is correct? A typical question might go; " I just added a new motorcycle exhaust system to my bike. Do I need to change the jetting? My exhaust color seems to be fine." Or, "I don't have access to a... Read more

Installing Sportster Stage 1 - 756 days old
Here's a tip on installing the stage 1 kit on a sportster posted by our very own Hobbit when he did the upgrade on his sporty.
OK, we all know that making the bike breathe better makes it run better and release the power that the EPA/EU do not want us to have.
You have seen the install for the Pipes to get the exhaust gas... Read more

Sportster CV Carb Rejetting - 965 days old
A bit different than the big twin method..
Best to leave the diaphragm alone in the top of the carb. The slide diaphragm can be tricky to reinstall without pinching the rubber.
The vacuum hole is a particular size in the slide and it is for a reason. It governs the movement of the slide for proper fuel delivery. If it is enlarged to... Read more

Great way of visualizing the fuel level in the float bowl without disassembling it.

Heavy Breather Install - 354 days old

Installing a heavy breather is simple. The 07 requires part number 29299-08.
This is the same as the part number listed for Dyna and Softails.
There is little difference between Carb and EFI. I am doing the EFI.
Step one remove air cleaner and backing plate. Simple enough.
Remove the two breather... Read more

Altitude Jetting - 385 days old
Problems with jetting for altitudes would require smaller jetting than used at sea level in the same bike/engine combination. The higher the altitude , the richer the mixture would be with the same jetting in a carb.
If a carb used as a base line a #46 jet at sea level, chances are that you may need a #44 or #45 or even smaller depending... Read more
