Adjusting Choke Knob Tension

Here's a pic that will show you the tension adjustment if your choke does not stay out when you set it. Don't over tighten it or you will damage the unit, only tighten enough to effect a difference. If enough tension isn't available then replacement of the cable is needed or you can try loosening the 11/16 nut behind the bracket a little and tightening the front nut pictured.

I am glad you emphasize not over tightening. I tightened the nut on the back of mine till I heard a snap. Ooops, I forgot that it is only plastic. Now I have a brand new cable and a lesson learned.

Same here.... it happened when loosening the nut to re-jet the carb.

I loosened the knob end of the cable from the bracket (6 half turns)... when replacing it, the plastic cracked on the 5th half turn.

It is wire/zip tied in place right now, but am going to get a replacement cable this weekend. Anyone got good directions on how to replace the cable, and make the proper adjustments?
