These suggestions will also work on EVO carbed models too.

A tried and true for "most" carbs in twin cam bikes for rejetting with intake and exhaust mods would be on the low speed jet 45/46 (46 being the best usually), and on the high speed jet would be 185/190 (190 usually being stock). Install 2 - #4 washers (available in...

From trial and error this is what I found works best.

I don't like to drill the slide and I shim (lift) the needle with 2-#4 washers for best results.

It's pretty much all explained in that post but the 48 low jet will give you a mushy throttle response. Especially so if the filter you used was the replacement for the stock one being the short type used in the stock housing.

When getting the washers does it matter what kind of material, meaning just steel, zinc coated steel, stainless steel or brass ?

Glider,

Is it easier to pull the carb off or to raise the tank to gain access to the carb top? I pulled the carb off the intake but could not figure out how to remove the cables. So I put it back together again. ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

It can be done either way. If you look at the cables in the bracket on the carb and collapse the cable adjusters, it isn't hard to see how they come out.
