Here's a good product for cleaning fuel systems and general maintenance.

MY TEST:

Bike is running better, but I only got 2 tanks with it in.

On the 1st tank, the SMALL crack in the Y-Pipe I had finally broke open (NOT from the seafoam, but from a broken exhaust / transmission mount bracket that I discovered had broken into 3 parts!). Mileage DROPPED because of the 3/4 inch wide hole in the exhaust.

Replaced / re-worked the entire exhaust (stock from headers, new y-pipe, backyard modified OEM mufflers (1 inch center plugs removed)).

I will calc the mileage tomorrow and post.... but I bet AFTER exhaust repair, mileage went up.

The bad news is that I can't continue the test.... I am FINALLY re-jetting the carb, and adding a Stage 1 air cleaner in the morning... so all mileage shold increase from that.

That will effect the running and MPG when you do that.

Your bike back yard mod on the pipes back idea and will not end well.
If it were that easy everyone would do it

Removing the center baffle plugs from the OEM stock is what a LOT of people do (and have suggested I do)... and MOST have no probs with it. It gives a SLIGHTLY louder sewing machine affect, and doesn't mess with the need for more air (stage 1 AC or even re-jetting. The only probs I have had is the Y-pipe cracking, but I believe that is because the shop that replaced it the first time did NOT replace the bracjet at the transmission (a 20 buck part).

And IF you re-jet and go bigger with Stage 1 AC, the missing baffle plugs allow for the extra exhaust flow .

But I digress, as this is the seafoam thread.

As Smitty suggests, you need to do some research on removing the baffle and it's ill effects on the motor regardless of what you may have been told by others..
