I have had my 06 street glide for about 2 weeks now. I noticed right away that there was no audible alarm on the bike. I reviewed the self help section and realized that the bike did not have a siren on it. I bought and installed the smart siren II.....the one with the antenna. The bike now has an audible alarm when moved and the alarm is set. I have a fob with a button so I manually set the alarm not just walk away the way the fobs w/o a button work. Now my question......I understand that with the smart siren II there should be an audible chirp when it is armed and disarmed. I don't get this chirp. I have read through the self helps several times and still can't seem to get it to work. I have rode several hunred miles since install so the battery should be charged on the siren. Can someone point out what I am doing wrong. Thanks.....btw love my new Harley

Just had my 1K service and took the advise of Glider and many recommending my own fluids. I used syn 3 on my Fat Boy and always wondered why it shifted so loud and hard and always heard the engine winding. I put the Mobile one in and HD in the primary in the Glide. Considerably queiter engine compartment but what I noticed the most was using the Spectro Platinum in the Tranny. Glider , my man, you were spot on. Quiet, smooth and presice, and Nuetral is easier to find as well.

As always, thanks for you input and expert advise.

Hello Gang

Recently my fuel pump on the 09 Ultra has begun to make a strange loud noise intermintantly sounds like loud static only at start up, Once on the road it seems to stop. Plenty of fuel pressure just concerend about the intermtitent noise. Since the bike is still under warranty the dealer checked it out and said as long as the correct fuel pressure is there they would not change it out.

Any thoughts

Hello,

My new bike has 500 miles on it and I have had a loud tappet sound (valves) occurring most noisily between 2100 and 2300 RPM.

I finally got tired of this ball ping hammer symphony so I went to a local dealer. They said leave the bike and we'll begin to tear down the engine to find the noise.

A second dealer said the same thing, neither had test ridden the bike.

Finally a third dealer said that they have seen (heard) this with other new Screaming Eagle 100 motors. They claim the problem is that the new bilkes use Harley s Synthetic 3 motor oil. They said the engine is fine, just to change all oils to a non synthetic thicker oil and the sound will go away.

Okay I am skeptical but I remember reading another post where they used a heavier weight oil in the trans and it helped.

Where can I turn for advise, any comments out there???

I am enjoying the bike maitenance, my last bike a BMW was like working on NASA high tech machinery! I was afrais to touchj anything...this harley is easy to understand and work on!

I have an 05 Road King that I put on 2 newly chromed Ultra Classic 9 spoke HD wheels on. Complete with polished rotors, chrome calipers, etc....
Looks awesome!!!! However, I am thinking about putting on a 21" (or 19", if I can't find a suitable 21" match)
Anybody out there know of a wheel manufacturer that makes a 21" 9 spoke chrome wheel that has "atleast" a close resemblance to the stock HD 9 spoke? Thanks, Tim

I took my bike in to the dealer to have a tire replaced.

While waiting for the service writer the service manager noticed my tail lights were cocked. When he touched it, it was completely loose. The left hand bolt had fallen out and the right one was loose. The paint around the recess for the tail light assembly was really chipped from bouncing around. I had ridden on a narrow and rough canyon road this past weekend and it must have vibrated loose and had fallen out then. I had just pledged every surface 2 weeks ago and the tail light bar was not loose then.

Anyway, I was totally blown away when the dealer said they would try to get me a new fender. I was thinking a new bolt and some touch up paint. I went back this morning to pick up my bike, the bolt had been replaced and the girl working the counter said HD would send a new fender. WOW!!!

Anyone else been this lucky with their dealer?

Last winter I purchased a pair of ultra classic 9 spoke wheels and sent them out to California for chrome/exchange, complete with polished rotors, chrome calipers, pully, etc....
I would like to change my front wheel to atleast a 19", or preferably a 21" that matches (or, very close) the rear 9 spoke stock HD wheel.
I'd also like to keep the duel caliper.
I am not having any luck finding a close match to the stock HD wheel in 21" or 19"...anybody got any suggestions?
I'd also like to purchase the HD bag extensions, and have them painted and added to my bags. I can purchase these for about $250 + paint. Or, should I just buy the extended bags, and have them painted?
