If you are talking about the re-cored stock mufflers like on Ebay, I really would choose another route myself.JMO.

I knocked out my stock mufflers on a 1997 FLHT it sounded terrible off they came and in the trash

One of many reasons we recommend taking stock pipes off put them in a safe place and get some pipes you like. If cash is a issue save up and wait it will be cheaper in the long run and owner will be a lot happier

Glad I read this post. I was thinking about trying to knock out things to see if they would sound better. Got away with that with a Volusia I had some years ago.
