Heres a fun fact. On the radio series the part of Chester Proudfoot was played by Harley Baer (how ironic is that name) He later played Mayor Stoner of Mayberry on the Andy Griffith show and the part of "Doc' Adams was played by Howard Mcnear who later played Floyd Lawson the Barber on the Andy Griffith show.

Yeah, I was thinking of him and Dennis Weaver when I asked the question.Buck Taylor played the part towards the end of the show's run, if I'm not mistaken.
