Re: Famous people you met?
Ben Vereen, Lorne Green, Dan Blocker, Michael Landon, Mickey Haggarty, Walt Disney, Mr. Nash (did many of the Disney character voices), Bill Cosby,
Molly Hatchet group, Debbie Boone, Charlie Daniels, The Marlboro Man (the guy on the Marlboro billboards years ago). He and my dad used to fly homing pigeons in So. Cal., James Garner, Annette Funicello, Anna Maria Albergetti, Mickey Rooney, Jack Parr, Soupy Sales, Roger Barris, Seward Johnson (sculpter and one of the Johnson and Johnson family), and ...ready for this. Chucko the Clown. I think there's a few more but I can't think of them at the moment. My dad and uncle had an exotic animal import business in So. Cal for many years. Back before it was illegal to have them. That's how I met some of these folks. Just remembered another: Dick Smothers of The Smothers Brothers made a movie in which he played a limosine driver. I was working for a limo company at the time and they rented a limo for two days to do some filming in Princeton NJ. I was his 'stand in' driver for the scenes that didn't show his face. I never did see the movie. LOL Last edited by STEVE07; Oct 8th, 2009 at 09:44 PM. |

Re: Famous people you met?
More NASCAR, NHRA, WoW, and CART/Indy car/IRL drivers than I'll ever remember: Richard Petty, Ned and Dale Jarrett, Buddy Baker, Bobby Allison, Adam Petty, Dale Jr, John Force, Kenny Burnstein (sp), Steve Kinser, Warren and Kurt Johnson, Mario, Michael, and John Andretti.
Also Ted Turner at a Braves game back in 1976. He came back and sat with us and shot the breezy for 10 or 15 minutes. Bill Russell in an elevator in NYC. Several Cardinals players a couple months ago when we were allowed to ride the warning track in Busch Stadium prior to a game. |

Re: Famous people you met?
Hey just found this so thought I would add a couple.
Went to High School in Southern Illinois in the early '70s with Bruce Brown, current lead guitarist with the Charlie Daniels Band. All he did through his HS years was play his guitar all the time. Said he wanted to be in a famous band one day--he got his wish! In 1975 my (then) wife and I lived with and rented out a share of a townhouse we had in Houston Texas with Julian Schnabel and his girlfriend for about 4 or 5 months-- do a Wiki search Julian Schnabel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia if you've never heard of him. Back then he was just starting to paint on really big canvas. One time in about 1975 I came back from an offshore diving job and he asked me what I thought of a huge impressionistic painting of Christ he had recently done which was hanging on canvas covering the whole wall of our dining room. He asked me what I thought of it and I told him to get it off my wall or I'd do it for him. Wish I would have taken his rent money in paintings instead of cash! He would have been happy to do so but hey-- how did I know he was going to be a renowned artist someday! When riding with a small group in Singapore from 2000-2006 we did security gigs and after party in about 2004 for: Deep Purple Yangwe Malmsteen Vanessa Mei The security gigs were a lot of fun-- HD escort from the hotel to the gig, gig to party, party back to hotel. They were really nice and made us feel welcome at the after concert party but we stayed on the fringe. |

Re: Famous people you met?
Mick Foley (Mankind) is a really cool guy! I worked a military service/USO care-packaging event with him and Lee Greenwood. The event was televised and I thought for sure they'd leave after the cameras turned off (we all know how that works)...simply not true. These patriots stayed an hour after the last camera left and wrote words of encouragement and signed the boxes being shipped to our troops...great guys!

Re: Famous people you met?
Country artists Neil McCoy and Tanya Tucker.
In 2004 I established a Guinness World Record for 'most sit-ups'. That earned me a trip to NBC studios and I did a TV show with Dick Clark, (American Bandstand), Danny Bonaducie (spelling?) and Mario Lopez. I've also met several NFL football players.
