Save the mufflers, you may be needing them. Pick up a set of cycle shacks or the equivalent.

My nearest mot test centre wont look at a Harley that hasn't got a road legal exhaust (started like that in June after the inspectors got him)
my 92 softail came to me with the baffles drilled out and i spent a fair bit of time searching for suitable mufflers to get through the test i even tried ordering from hd but my order was returned would have been really easy to find something noisy
i eventually got a set from ebay just in time for the inspection and passed

moral of the story keep the legal ones legal you may need them one day

As said keep the stockers and but some aftermarket slip-ons try to find a gathering and listen to a bunch of bikes to see what ya like
