Use regular HD (actually they had "gold colored" version) for $4.95 just to see if it was more resistant to corrosion...not really sure, but the gold lustre is gone (no corrosion though). Checked them and they are still running clean.

I tried those expensive plugs. Everything was fine till the carb acted up and plugs got fouled.

$40 later and some good advise from Glider and the boys I went back to the cheaper HD plugs and never looked back.

Is there an ION problem with a carbed bike or does it only affect efi.

I believe it's the carbed bikes too. It will retard the timing at any sign of pinging.
