Re: spark plug poll
Yes it is a good thing but if it retards because of improper plugs, you are loosing performance.

Re: spark plug poll
Harley Davidson Plugs for me. I have had others, but just keep it HD and you won't have to worry.

Re: spark plug poll
Champion for me. A few years ago my mechanic got a box of plugs along with some other supplies from the HD dealership and when he got back to his shop the parts manager from the dealership had called him and told him he needed for my mechanic to return the box of plugs because they were "defective". My mechanic open the box to see what could be wrong and discovered that the plugs had HD printed on one side of the plug and Champion on the other, oops.

Re: spark plug poll
It's that with certain brand/type plugs you are more prone to pinging. Doesn't it make any sense to use what the manufacturer specked for the engine instead of something close?

Re: spark plug poll
Only a colder plug MAY remove a little heat but that's questionable too plus the life of the colder plug isn't as good as the regular plug. Plugs serve ONE purpose regardless of the brand/type and that is to light off the mixture. One spark is all it takes. The idea behind the fancy plugs is longevity, nothing more. Used in a car where the plugs may be barely accessible, that's one thing but for the price of the fancy plugs and any benefit that may be derived from them in a harley , they are a waste of money but if it makes you feel better with them, buy and use them.
