Re: BRAND Of Fuel Poll

In my ’08 Road Glide I have been using Shell 91 octane or Texaco 91 octane. I am more interested in stations that pump a large volume of fuel, less chance of water in the fuel. Also I will go to new stations over old ones –

Question Re: BRAND Of Fuel Poll

I have a couple of questions to pose regarding brands of fuel.

I have run Sunoco and BP almost exclusivly in all of my vehicles for years. Partially because of the close proximity of these stations to my home, and also because of the quality of the product.
My bikes drink nothing but 93 octane from either of these places.

Recently, I was told by a dealer service manager that Harley does not recommend the use of Sunoco Gas because of the higher ash content???
I question this, but have not been able to verify if what he said is true or not.
Can anyone provide any additional information on this, or has anyone even heard anything like this before.

The 2nd question I have is the availibity of top tier gasoline as listed in the published report. In my location, we have none of the gasolines listed.
How would I go about finding out if any of the brands available in my location are top tier compatible.

Re: BRAND Of Fuel Poll

Ever since I read that Chevron's techron is a superior injector cleaner, I've used Chevron in my FI vehicles. Never had a fuel related problem.

Re: BRAND Of Fuel Poll

Never had a fuel related problem either. But I've still got the Questions??
Chevron is not available here in the NorthEast, or I would probably use it.

Liquid gold. It's cheaper than gasoline.

Re: BRAND Of Fuel Poll

I always thought that , for a given octane , the only difference in brands was the "additives" . I also
thought these additives only functions were for long term protection and
not in short term daily performance ?? Personally , I try to go with any
"major" brand that is a few cents cheaper
Unk

Re: BRAND Of Fuel Poll

I like the Sunoco premium personaly. One realy big problem ive run into after speaking with my local station owner is that rising gas prices have left the super hanging around in the tanks.Seems no one wants to pay 4.50 a gallon. With todays inferior mixes gas can go bad real fast.Odly enough it now makes sence to by the premium at the off highway, high volume stations at a higher price. At least i know they are moving their fuel.
