Re: Sportster Tach Install
Thanks a lot for the link.
I have always fancied the idea of having a tacho on my Sporty but was hesitant for two reasons, One is having to decide which tacho to install and the other being somewhat daunted by the difficulty of the task. This tip has managed to put my mind at rest on both counts. Brilliant work, good pics and clear explanations. I will try to emulate this next time I do anything on my bike in the hope that it might be useful to someone. |

Re: Sportster Tach Install
Glider...A-A-mazing... I'm into electronics and between you and that Bert guy, the detailed hands on stuff is what the tinker' dreams of!
HDT users are all getting gifts from you guys with all these great tips...! Kinda makes you wonder what documentation the factory assemblers at HD' Custom Shop use when performing warranty repairs and upgrades. I'd hire guys like you in a split-second!

Re: Sportster Tach Install
You're not doing too bad yourself there.
![]() I figure if I can post enough here on how to do things, we can put the dealers out of business.

Re: Sportster Tach Install
Some time has passed and my quest for a suitable tach is still going on!
I'd love the look of the two big instruments as on the installation and was looking forward to install the tach as described, unfortunately, I was told by the HD dealer that this installation was not available for 2007 Sportys. The HD catalogue shows a similar system but it's only available in black, for the 883s. It seems, also, that the mini tachs are not suitable for the XL Custom. Pursuing my quest, I have come across what seems to answer my prayers. It's made by an outfit called Speedway instruments, they call it Micro Tach. According to their instructions, the installation is pretty simple and straightforward. It can, because of its small size, be mounted easily in any convenient location as shown in the pics below. Have any of you guys any experience of the micro Tach, either from using it or knowing someone who does? |

Re: Sportster Tach Install
Glad to hear it helped you out. Sometimes a few pics are worth more than the words spoken.
