Brighter Headlights

I've tried some of the fancy bulbs both blue and white available and didn't like them at all. Some claimed increased wattage but the blue coating on the bulb seemed to decrease visibility to a degree.
I have run these bulbs in many of my bikes as well as the guys I ride with and have had no problems at all with the wiring , excessive draw on the system etc.

After trying the 80/100 osram bulb in the reflector, I'm stuck on it and it lights up the road from side to side unlike the stock bulb that has a hot spot on the road ahead of you and very little to the sides.
This replacement bulb below lights up the road signs as well as other things that you never knew were there.

This is a replacement bulb that uses the reflector with the replaceable bulb, not the sealed beam units.

I don't think it gets much better than this one.

It's the forth one down here and it's only $11.58. It's the standard 3 prong mount bearing #PU431 and BiluxH4 "off road" on the packaging.
Some have reported an extra prong on the bulb that had to be removed in order for it to fit the reflector on the Harleys. It can be done either with a dremel tool or tin snips being careful not to touch the bulb with your fingers.

GermanAutoParts.com If you order this bulb, I ask specifically for the Osram brand.

The bulb WAS the third one down on the list but when I checked with Nathan at German auto parts, I was told that the demand for these bulbs from Harley riders necessitated the "Osram" listing which is the 4th one down on the list now and not the third any longer.

If your bike is running the older sealed beam light, it can be replaced with the newer reflector that can use this bulb for an additional cost of less than $20 from most parts stores. The end results are well worth the price.

Re: Brighter Headlights

Been running this bulb for quite a while now. The draw isn't that much more to be a problem.

We had this discussion last year.

Brighter Head Lights - Harley Davidson Community

I believe the end result was that if you had an older bike, a relay was recommened.

Glider dont you have a newer bike , therefore you can get away with just a bulb and reflector change.

I am not comfortable with running 8 amps for extended time thru existing wires.

Re: Brighter Headlights

Yes, I have an 07 but have a bud that has a 90 FLH running this bulb too with no problems.

I used the same reflector which is the new style and so far no problems with heat either. I check it once in a while just to be sure there's no adverse effects from the bigger bulb.

A relay will never hurt in any case.

Hi, Small town and smaller knowledge here. Can you explain the reflector I will need for the older bulb and what I need to purchase? As always thanks for the help.

Re: Brighter Headlights

I just installed one of these bulbs and there was an extra metal tab that I had to remove in order to install it. Is this normal?

Re: Brighter Headlights

There was someone else here that had to do the same thing. Wonder why that is, I never had to do it on mine.

Re: Brighter Headlights

I just installed one of those bulbs and had to trim the little tab myself (sheet metal snips). Great improvement and no ill effects yet in less than 3 weeks use with limited high beam on. '09 RKC. Sorry about double post I'm learnin'.
