Speedo/turn light cancell

Hi there,
I have a 2000 road king and the speedometer, odometer and turn signal canceler all went out at the same time. What do I need to look at? The turn signals do work but they don't cancell. WHen I start the bike, I can see the speedometer needle move a little bit.

Re: Speedo/turn light cancell

That's an electronic pickup problem. (VSS) Vehicle speed sensor. Very common, it handles all the chores that you mention in your post that went out. Cleaning the pickup is temporary, replacing it is the way to go at about $50 for the part. Easy installation.

Re: Speedo/turn light cancell

Thanks Glider...that sounds like it exactly. I've gone about 2 years with no steedometer so I figure I should fix it at some point.

Re: Speedo/turn light cancell

The choice of a good synthetic gear lube in the transmission really does minimize this problem to almost non existent.

Re: Speedo/turn light cancell

Spectro platinum or redline shockproof heavy are both good gear lubes.
