Battery Removal

Hi I want to remove the battery from my 1200 Sportster, it has the factory fitted alarm/imobiliser. If I remove the battery and then replace it will I have to re set the imobilizer system or is it a straight swap, if not whats the secret, is it in the HD owners manual ?

Re: Battery Removal

Welcome Alcaidesarobin to the HDTalking forum and your first post. No worries, it is a straight swap, alarm and ECM firmware is pre-programmed non-volatile memory. Since you have the button Fobs, no need to do anything special with the ignition off other than pulling the main fuse and disconnecting the negative cable connection at the engine block connection first near the starter and reconnecting it last after performing the service. Attachment compliments of Chopper...

Re: Battery Removal

To keep the alarm from going off, I believe you need to do the following:

1. Turn iginition on until you hear the alarm disarm
2. Remove master fuse
3. Turn ignition off
