2000 big twins, cam bearings problems
Re: 2000 big twins. Just burned up cam bearings. HD mechanic told me: "they have a lot of problems with those in the 2000's". Anyone have any experience? Negligent design? Negligent manufacture/assembly. Let me know.

Yes, its a fact in the early Twin cam engines, the cam bearings were inadequate. If the engine granaded because of it harley would fix it but no recall was issued because of the bearings even though they new the problem existed.
The top bearing in this pic is the replacement (torrington bearing) and the lower one is the INA bearing that wasn't up to the job but they used it anyway. Notice the number of rollers in the top bearing compared to the lower one. ![]()
