Re: Street Bob-Howzit?

I have an 06 FXDL, my son rides an 06 FXD (looked at an FXDB but the dealer sold it before he could get off work to get it); in my opinion you cannot go wrong with any member of the Dyna family. I have found them more nimble than the touring models and with a lower center of balance than the Sportsters; depending on how you set them up they are fine for long rides.
When I set mine up (bags, backrest, luggage rack, windshield) I went with detachable so I can remove everything and it looks (almost) like it did when I drove it off the showroom floor. Stripped down it is great for cruising around town and with everything on it works great for touring; my wife and I can pack everything we need for a week in the saddlebags and an expandable sissy bar bag. I put on forward controls and have highway pegs on the engine guard so I can strech out even more if needed; the original seat only had a 9" passenger pillion so I switched to the Sundowner seat; 550 miles in a day and the wife doesn't complain a bit.

Hello, I've had on since 2006. love the bike. But if your looking for long haul comfort, you have to go with the heritage or bigger. No trouble so far, learn to do as much as you can yourself. dealer prices are murder.

go to La Pera & look at the BARE BONES SOLO it will lower you an inch to an inch & a half without having to lower your bike & Peg scrape around deep curves, the seats start about $198.00 & you can get custon fabrics, stitching or inlays...

Bob... If you can take advantage of the HD Demo Rides that are held at dealerships around the country, it's a perfect opportunity to try out different models.

I'm also like you, not as HD owner yet, but looking to upgrade next year. I'm only 5'4" and 133 lbs and commuting on a metric 250. I was sure that a Sportster would be a perfect interim upgrade step before getting a Dyna. I'm a new rider and felt intimidated by the big jump in weight and power of the Street Bob.

Westminster HD held a Demo weekend where I had the opportunity to try out a Nightster, Street Bob, Fat Bob and Rocker. I was amazed at how the Dynas handled so nice and nimble. It felt as light as my 250 with obvious differences. Gobs more power and torque, more stability at freeway speeds and the unmistakable sweet sound of the Harley big twin. I know without a doubt that I'll own one this time next year.

This link has the upcoming Demo Ride events left this year. If there's none in your area this year, there should be some next year.... hopefully! Good luck!

Thumbs up Re: Street Bob-Howzit?

SilverfoXHD, I just made the trip from North Carolina to Oregon, couldnt ride my bike cuz it rained almost the whole way but I used to hit the Blue Ridge Parkway & Lake Lure & Asheville all the time & was wondering if you have rode THE DRAGONS TAIL from N.C. to Tenn? 318 turns in 11 miles,I never got to & was wondering how it was? Maybe when I go back to Myrtle Beach Bike Week in May I will just have to give it a try.
