Surprise The Plot Thickens - Looking at Dyna purchase

Hi all!
Well, my response to this salesman caused him to blow a gasket! I asked him to charge me only 800 for the extended warranty, drop the 200 'processing fee', throw in both an electric and mechanical manual and store it for me from 1 to 4 months in addition to the other items we agreed on . . . all on a walk-out price for 12K. He said that since he wrote the agreement (news to me, I never gave him a dime) that the deal was carved in stone! So . . . I email some more dealers in the state . . . tell them what I'm looking for.
Well, dealer 'X' emailed me back and said - hey how would you like to have all of that in a new bike - a 2011 leftover? (Do moose '(EDIT) ' in the woods?) So, tomorrow I will be taking an extended lunch to see how this bike looks. From what I understand its a brand spanking new 2011 Harley Davidson FXDC in black w/an alarm. He's going to throw in the engine guard and manual. H-D will warrant the bike until April of 2014 to make up for the lost time in storage . . . I can choose at a later time to buy an extended warranty but by that time I feel I should have some confidence in working on it. Oh - and they'll store it for up to 4 months as well . . . . all for a walk out price of 12K. These bikes list for over 13K . . . and this is before all other things that are tacked on to the bill . . .
So what do you think? Any opinions on this? I suppose that the only thing that might be a downer is that it will look like all the other millions of black harley's out there . . .but I guess that means - 'customize time'?! I don't think I busted that other guys '(EDIT) ' do you? I told the first guy that just write it up send it to me and I'd drive up there with a check - sheesh! Oh - well . . . can't please everyone . . .

Thanks for the help guys . . .

Mark

Re: Looking at Dyna purchase

I own a 2011 FXDC and paid almost $14,000 last June. She is black an no longer looks like any other black Harley, as I have personalised her.
I would say you are looking at a pretty fair deal for it, your original sales dude must have been having a bad day. To your benefit, it got you on a new path.
The longer you look at this black dyna, the more you will see that she is a blank canvass, waiting for you to make her your own. This is how the bike is marketed. You get a great bike for a low price, and then spend on the after market goodies.
My bike is Monochrome. I have taken off all that is yellow or red. A Mustang seat sets her apart from a distance, but closer up, her customizing comes alive. Yes, millions of black Harley's out there, but not quite like mine. Love my black Dyna

Thumbs up Looking at Dyna purchase

Faster? Haha! Must be gloss that reduces the air resistance! I've see the blacks and they are lookers for sure . . . I'm not sure if the chromed wheels with the semi-rounded interiors are included w/the bike by default . . . I do like those for sure . . . sounds like it's a good deal . . .wish me luck tomorrow . . . I'll take my 'attack' poodle along for enforcement purposes! Hahaha! Louis will make sure I get a good deal . . . . We go an offer you can't refuse!

Yup - I did the deed! Here is a an album of my new bike in at the dealership. I drove about 80 miles from Nashua, NH to Lebanon, NH and was greeted by some nice folks at the dealership. So for $12,000 and not a penny more I am getting:
- A new (11 miles on the odometer) Black 2011 Harley Davidson FXDC w/Security System
- An installed chrome engine guard (I expect to be ribbed on this one, but for the first season I want to try to minimize any 'drop damage' - I'll probably remove it in a year or less)
- A mechanical H-D manual for this model
- An electrical H-D manual for this model
- A remote 'pager' for the alarm that will notify me if the bike is messed with
- Up to 4 months storage during the N.H. 'off season' (read VERY cold!)

This includes title transfer, freight, fees, etc etc . . . I think the bike itself is written as 10,395 which is about 2600.00 off of MSRP.

I must admit . . . he sold me when he had me start it up in the show room . . . she sang her sirens song . . . . and I was hooked - hahaha!

Thanks for the help and suggestion guys . . . I didn't anticipate this good of a deal . . . I just have to pick up the check tomorrow at the credit union deliver it to them . . . and its a done deal.

Re: Looking at Dyna purchase

congrats on the new bike, nuthin quite like a new brand new bike. Its a good model, I have the Streetbob which similar and its a great ride in the turns and also for longer trips, the mid controls are the way to go when you want to turn up the wick in the twisties IMHO.
Enjoy the winter lay up by planning rides and events to go to and mebbe a tweak or two to liberate the motor-my choice there is Supertrapp 2-1 Supermegs, higher flowing airfilter of your choice, SEPST.
Merry christmas and good roads and weather to ya.

My 10c. No one of gear suits all seasons, but you can layer up in your summer gear for spring and autumn and summer rides at altitude.
But to start with Boots, Gloves, eye protection, helmet and TRAINING.
I 've been riding nearly 40 years and I still take training because the only people that know it all are wives and I'm divorced so I do not have the benefit of the other halfs advice.
So book that training and read up on stuff like Proficient Motorcycling by Bob Hough thru the winter layoff. I don't agree with every word he writes but essentially its good stuff.

Re: Looking at Dyna purchase

If you are buying motorcycle clothing for the first time go to a specialist in motorcycle gear and try it on whilst sitting on your bike or a similar bike to ensure it all works together on a bike
boots gloves jacket and helmet are what i would consider minimum requirements although i have 4 jackets 5 pairs of boots 7 pairs of gloves 4 helmets and 3 pairs of trousers different weather and moods will determine what i wear
