Its ILL - and its the ECM

as many will know at 2500miles my 96 became a 103 and had SERT added to tune the bike, we got awesome figures well in keeping with the other tuners out there 90hp and 115ft/lbs.
we all know it went a little squirly when it had the new frame and seemed to revert to base settings.
I have been digging and mooching for some time as to why it did this and if it was infact the dealer messing it up..............well my dealer had it in for a few bits and disconnected the battery - arghhhhhh
it started to play up and cough again.
well i have done all the normal checks and everything appears ok, i am swapping out the leads and plugs to some new stuff, and i have tried to reflash the ECM - this is were the big big big tell tale struck home, we had a suspecisions the ECM was a little finicky but WOW i could not flash the ECM
it kept springing up - ECM not connected errrrrr................. yes it is
15 attempts later and 2 laptops later and still nothing the software would not reconise the dongle or the ECM, last ditch i tried one last time and up it came, quickly flashed the ECM and left it be knowing very well it will start to lose the programming in about 2wks.
The dealer is going to get the ECM investigated ??? and as he said there is not much we can do with them we will get you a new ECM on order they will programme it thru the digi tech to work with my dongle and then flash my map into the ECM once its locked to my bike.

i see the Zippers kit making its way to the UK sooner rather than later

Re: Its ILL - and its the ECM

No, I was unaware of all that. Sounds like an interesting story. I got one about an '07 getting a new crank okayed on basically the last day of the warranty.

What're the chances it'd happen again to you with the new ECM?

At any rate, I personally find the Daytona Twin Tech kit a bit more elegant than the Zippers. There are other factors, to be sure, but a good one is that the DTT uses the MAP sensor for its spark tables. The MAP sensor does either entirely nothing or maybe acts as a barometer at startup at best with the Zippers stuff.

If it makes any difference, the Zippers feels like Windows Vista to me as compared to the DTT feeling like unix. Know what I mean?

ok tell me about the DTT was unaware that they did a tuning module for the 09's?
see being in the UK we do not have access to the new stuff or the news unless we subscribe to it on the net
and as for Vista Vs Unix i get that as i use MAC

ps i know DTT do good stuff and it is compatible for tuning carbed sporties

PPS i just went and looked OHHHHHHH nice and tasty tuning stuff thats obviously had time taken to sort out the bugs

Daytona Twin Tech might work for you and might be cheaper but i got to the wont work with 08+ TBW so no point reading on from there to bad..

Funny though the recommend their TFI looking setup to use with TBW

Re: Its ILL - and its the ECM

Possible the VIN number wasn't entered into the ECM when it was installed?

Re: Its ILL - and its the ECM

it worked fine until the frame was changed and then it all went wrong and has not been the same since.
I redyno'd with the shorts and the same HP and more TQ but it just does not seem to hold the map its as if its fighting itself to hold tune and my turn signals have just started to stop self cancelling
