Re: Its ILL - and its the ECM

well its sat at the dealer they have checked everything out and due to the fact that it is still throwing P1477 even tho its blanked off they are certain the ECM is at fault, they are also looking at getting in a borescope to check the barrels if not they are stripping it down to check for damage as they cannot beb sure that running the ECM like it is has not done some damage.
Plug electrodes were bright red!!!
Exhaust gases were overly rich!!!

suggesting that the motor is running HOT but EXcessivley Rich , they are not sure how this is occuring.

it is due a compression test and other investigations they also suggested and oil cooler, and the guy working on it build drag motors and suggested the 257 cam to help it breathe along with the trottle body.
i have decided get it fixed and then see were i go

the porcelain was bright red, with scorch marks near to what would be the flame front, the surrounds were black, the electrode had a flaky substance on it, looked like it had laminated and was peeling apart

oh the plugs have only done 250 miles

Are you running some exotic fuel? I once had orange rust color porcelain from running Hi octane additives. But it was Not Red. It was Orange.
Could it be?

I do agree. The ECM does sound like it is toast.

Nope its a normal grade fuel available straight from the pump, and it was red

Hobbit,
Man you have me stumped on this one. I have seen some crazy stuff in my days, but I am clueless to what this Red coating could be.

Yep it's got the dealer stumped as well specially as the exhaust is very very black to the extent the swing arm is covered in carbon
