Hobbit,
From what I have read so far, it sounds like your going to replace the ECM out of desperation. It very well can be that, but should you replace it, and the results are the same, let me know. Multiple strange problems, erroneous trouble codes, bit changes in memory can sometimes be traced back to ripple in power supplies and ground loops.

Try the new ECM and see what happens. If the problems still persist, I would bet you have issues with clean (ripple free) B+ power going into the ECM or some ground loop issue. Remember there are no smoothing filters for the alternator other than the battery. It is possible when you changed the frame, a poor ground creeped into the system and now you have a ton of AC ripple in the B+ rail. Just something to think about.

Re: Its ILL - and its the ECM

Hoop elecs are not my strong point B+? I know I can go over all my ground points and check the wiring as most of it was hanging out after the frame change to the point I had to put at least 2 section properly in my self including a load behind the ECM carrier.
this the last thing I really wanted to do but I think my dealer needs it to check what the other dealer did, I have never been since the frame change

It's a Harley, do you expect it to be trouble free?

Re: Its ILL - and its the ECM

Hobbit,
The fact that the problem started after the frame change is what bugs me. Sure it is possible the ECM went south at the same time, but I can tell you from experience that Delphi ECM's are very well built. I have a lot of confidence in them.
If you still have the same problems after the ECM swap out, especially error codes that can not really exist, I would bet it is ripple or a ground loop issue. I actually lean more toward a ripple issue. Did you happen to make any battery taps or splices (for options) into the wire that goes from the regulator to the battery.? That wire must remain pure.

Try the ECM. All the problems may just go away. If they don't, at least you will have a plan.

Re: Its ILL - and its the ECM

Hoop there are no accessories on the bike its a raw bare bones and if i could legally do away with turn signals and mirrors i would
i checked the CKP and VSS today to see if they had any debris on them and they were all clean and intact, if it had not rained i would have done more but i have no lights in the garage
i will be checking the 02's tomorrow and lifting the tank and looking for crimped/trapped damaged wires from the frame swap and if all appears fine then i will get the ECM swapped and take it from there
