Re: Motorcycles plus computers?

I have aq ASUS Eee PC that I carry on my long rides. It has a solid state hard drive in it, so no vibration worries. It has been over 14K miles already this year, and I am typing on it right now.

No HD Talking withdrawal symptoms for this biker.
Very funny Ugly John!

I would never entertain the idea of taking my laptop with me on a bike trip. I take a trip to get away from the everyday rat race. I do take the bike to work on occasion and throw the laptop in the saddle bag or trunk, laptop is in a backpack.

Like The Tank, I have a BlackBerry and that is all I need.

+1 on the iPhone. It has EVERYTHING that I need unless I need the laptop for work. I just purchased the mounting hardware from RAM Mounts (will be receiving it tomorrow) and plan on doing more with it since it has the GPS, maps, mp3 player, etc... It will make it much handier then toting the laptop.

If it is the same ones we use in the Air Force they are not that bad. They are the Panasonic metal cased Toughbooks (around $3500) cheaper if you buy in bulk.

Re: Motorcycles plus computers?

I take my 15" Apple MacBookPro on longer trips. I book accomodation, check weather and plan my route on Google Maps. I have even blogged my ride as I go. Can't ride 24/7.
I use a Pelican case.
