I have some marine speakers I had picked up for my boat and didn't use them and was wondering if I can use them on my bike. They are Clarions and they will fit the opening however they ar 4 ohm as opposed to 2 ohm of the originals. Can I use the 4 ohm speakers and if so what will the difference be? Thanks for any and all help!

I put the same In my bike thinking someday I would get a new stereo head and possibly a amp. They are Polk Audio 4 ohm Marine, been in about 2 years, they sound decent. I cant comment on the ohm difference and what would suffer. I can tell you they would work with no damage being done. would it sound better than what you have? I don't know. Its a simple swap though to find out.

I can't find my reference link right now, but you are not supposed to mix speakers of different ohms. Here's a page that may help with the "why" mixing speakers with different ohms - Google Search

Going from 2 ohm speakers to 4 ohm speakers will work..You will not get the same volume from them but the head unit would actully run a little cooler.

Thanks all, I decided to sell the marine stereo and speakers I had for my boat and will look at probably some hog tunes speakers and amp.
