Cool More Old Iron on Palomar

Another in a series of old iron on The Hill.

Ran a 1926 Harley JD model.

Part of an ongoing series of old bikes to be run to the top of Palomar.

Have a 1914 version that could see The Hill in a month or two.

Previously, the oldest bike I ran up was a 1918 Excelsior V twin.

That was recently tied by a 1918 Indian that a guy ran up 2 weeks ago.

Want to secure the " title " with a 1914 Harley FD model V twin.

Have a 1912 Indian V twin waiting in the wings, also.

Have pictures and a short video ( that will be re-shot in a week or two )

Re: More Old Iron on Palomar

Actually didn't leak that much.

After sitting for years, it ran stronger as it got more miles on it.

Probably beat the rusty rings and valves into shape.

The synthetic oil seems to keep the smoke down and the plugs clean.

Didn't smoke out the exhaust

Re: More Old Iron on Palomar

One of these bikes could be going in a month or two.

......1912 Indian Endurance Racer

This one could go with a more " normal " seat than the one on it, now. ........

.......1914 Harley FD Model

Re: More Old Iron on Palomar

This 1931 Henderson could be going next month.

Have run the bike around the block.

Just need to get a voltage regulator for it.

Generator is ok, and bike is battery dependant.

It was a last year bike, with only 15 made, and

was designed to run battery / coil ( only year ) ,

instead of straight mag.

Re: More Old Iron on Palomar

Being in Oceanside, you may have been on Palomar a few times.

I usually run the modern bikes in warm weather, and the oldies in cool or cold weather.

Ran a bunch of English bike last Sunday afternoon, when the rain let up.

Re: More Old Iron on Palomar

Had a rear tire / tube blow out on the 1926 Harley.

Back tire let go all at once, came off the rim and locked up the back wheel.

Back end shook like a wet dog till I got the bike stopped, bau at least didn't dump it.

Later in the day, ran this 1946 Indian Chief up Palomar.

It ran great and started on 1 kick ( in front of witnesses )
