head swap...83 Shovel
I'm entertaining the thought of putting S&S shovel heads on my 83 w/stock 80" barrels...I'd like to go with the 3 5/8" bore heads because some day I'd like to replace the barrels with the big bore cylinders (3 5/8")to give me 88" w/ the stock 4.25 stroke...until I install the BB cylinders am I opening a can of worms I won't like...? my reason for doing it in stages is of course a lack of cash but I am having trouble getting the exhaust to seal...1 stud as opposed to 3 on the S&S's...reason 2 is when I install the BB cylinders I will have to bore the cases and also want to install 4.25" T&O wheels at the same time...
Enlighten me oh Great guru ![]() |

Re: head swap...83 Shovel
Piecing it together IMO is more work than doing it all at once due to duplication of some aspects of the build. Put your pennies in a jar and dot it all at once.

Re: head swap...83 Shovel
Doing the BB heads on stock bore cylinders is a no go.Different head gaskets. And do S&S wheels while your at it.If you're going to do wheels you should do a stock bore stroker.Much better results.
