Re: WWII courier model

You're right Hobbit. If I can get enough angles from pictures or maybe spec sheets I could go that route. Thanks, Bud!

Re: WWII courier model

I HIT THE JACKPOT!!!!!! Flatland motorcycle parts has a subsidiary, I guess, called 45 parts depot. They even have an engine (long block) for $3900.00. The seat is $90.00 cheaper than the other one I saw. They have every last part, so I guess I'm in bidness!! I found another one called 45 restoration company, inc. so now all I need is cashflow. Anyone care to donate a buck to get this beast rolling???

Great find Joe! With those prices, I doubt this'll be a done project anytime soon, but I'm looking forward to your progress on it!

Keep us posted please! And lots of pics as she goes along!

Re: WWII courier model

hay got some more info on your project iwas going through my interchange book and if you can find a knuckle head frame the flat head motor is a direct drop in by what my book says flat head &knuckle head frames & engs will switch back back and forth also im trying to do some reasearch on i heard during wwIIthe us armies MPs used knuckle heads sense these were bigger faster machines ,this makes sense because tyhe 45 with its 3 speed trannie will only run around 55/60 mph thay were not a fast machine but they had power and totque my 45 i could slip the clutch and she would do a wheel stand but it had no speed but i heard k-model sportster cams will work this is supose to be the old hot setup for the 45 .iwas also going to suggest to get in touch with some of the wwII restoration clubs they probably could set you up with some of the harder to find parts .also try to go to a army surplus shop to see if they have any of the orignal TM manuals that the military had on the war bikes these would be great for checking out equipment that was used on these bikes .if you get a eng with out the carb the carb on the old 45 was a old brass linkert these were also used on the same period indians .if i find out any thing more on the MPs knuckles i will pass it on .well thats all i can think of for now
later
