Could the author not have just contacted you and ask you to remove the "copyright" material?

And on a point of law. Anyone can copyright an original work by simply writing the word "copyright" and the year after the work.

Was any did in my forest have black locks of cold.
cdn-bigfoot.

copyright 2008.
The "author" did contact us here, but the problem was that he was rather immature in the way he approached the situation in that he started off with "Hey Idiot" in his message.

There are those that can ask something to be done and it is done, and then there are those that like to appear much taller than they actually are
Never the less the 2 posts were removed immediately anyhow.

Re: All Members Please Read

Actually, you don't even have to include "copyright" or any other wording any more. Any original work is automatically copyrighted as soon as it is set in a fixed medium such as writing it down, drawing it, taking a picture, recording an original song or making a video. You can't sue for copyright infringement though unless you first register the work with U.S. Copyright Office. If you create anything original, it helps remind people not to steal it by having some sort of copyright statement on it. On the other hand, people need to realize that pretty much everything on the web is copyrighted, including pictures, clipart and videos. Because of the nature of my job, I have had the misfortune of having to try to understand copyright and Fair Use. It has been the most frustrating thing I have ever dealt with in my life.

Re: All Members Please Read

My HOG chapter ran across a copy right issue not long ago. The Marine Corp Reserve has "Toys For Tots" copyrighted I have never heard of them ever enforcing it and I'm sure they copyrighted the phrase to prevent it being used by some one else and excluding them from it. Any way, this representative of a local reserve unit called the chapter up and said we were in violation of the copyright but he wouldn't press things if we donated the toy to his reserve unit. So we just changed it to Toys 4 Tots and went on our merry way. I like this forum and consider it just right for me. It is user friendly and I am very computer challenged. Let's move on and enjoy our Harleys. Fossil

Re: All Members Please Read

I am new here and have only been reading this site for a couple of weeks now, however I have found that this site is full of people that are friendly and helpful, people that look to share their interests in Harleys with complete strangers across North America and possibly further. Anyone that wants to interact with this group of people in that way is purely jealous of the digital community that exists here and wants to disrupt it. We do not need to expend any more energy thinking about these jerks.

Rise above abuse and acrimony and see them for the negative waste that they are. An error was made, not in malice; an apology was issued and the error corrected. Those continuing to take issue or proclaiming outrage need to grow up and get over themselves.

This site rocks - just look at how many faithful members and contributors there are from all around the globe I've never found a www so helpful, supportive and welcoming as HD Talking. It's a great e-community.

I have not been a member very long, but have certainly enjoyed the reading. I think this matter was handled in a very professional way. I hope the leadership of this forum continues, and I look forward to attending whenever I get the chance...
