just a note to throw my 2 cents worth in. AVG4free is an excellent anti-virus, anti-spyware/malware, e-mail scanner etc. It is free and updates its virus database daily and automatically downloads the updates to you. Can be set to run scans of your computer on any schedule you want or manually. I use it to scan anything I that I d/l from the www. and I have never had any virii.

Hello, in working in the IT field for more years than i care to remember i might be able to help every now and again. One thing you can do if you are using <cough><cough> Windoze is this site.. Sorry, cant post the URL link... Less than 5 posts.. Ok look up SANDBOXIE .. What it does is essentially close off windows OS and works without writing anything to your pc SO if ANYTHING gets past your flavor of Antivirus as can happen with out of date software (read: IE / OS / Mozilla / AV) and a malformed bitmap from a site to gain root / admin privledges which seems to be running rampant right now in myspace You are protected. Oh and my personal choice for AV would have to still be Panda Antivirus... Now if you really REALLY want to be protected why not have a live Linux Distro that you can pop into your cd / dvd drive and boot up to? NOTHING gets in to your pc... KNOPPIX is a good choice for that level of pc protection... and never but never click on SCAN my pc whatevers...Hope this helps someone out... SpyBot Search and Destroy is a great auxilliary to any AV pgm ... Personally i use linux and use a linux based firewall / proxy / dansguardian / ipblocker / virus detection seperate from the pcs that go online... no virii in 5 yrs... Take care,,
