Smart Siren II installation

Here's a pictorial on the installation of the smart siren II on a bagger.

The remote pager unit only works with the Smart Siren II.

Here's the instructions for the installation.

Alarm instructions-J04082-1.pdf

To remove the battery cables without the alarm sounding, first turn the ignition switch and then pull the 40 amp maxi fuse. This will silence the alarm.

This is the smart siren II,you can see the antenna wire on the side.

This is where the three pin plug was living before It was removed....just under the fuse box, under the left side cover.

This is the "Weather Tight" three pin connector.

Here you can see exactly where the siren will snap in. That is the only open spot under the left side cover....you cant miss it. You can spray a bit of silicone on your fingers and then rubit on the two clips to help the unit slide in. Do not plug in the connector before you install the unit......just place the unit in its spot...then insert the plug.

Here is the unit installed in its place. You can see its plugged in and you can see the empty hole under the unit itself.

This is where I placed the Velcro with the adhesive backing....you put one piece on the frame rail, and then center the skinny part of the antenna wire on it, and than capture it by placing the matching piece of Velcro over it. You can not let the skinny part of the wire antenna touch any metal or it will interfere with the transmission of the signal to the pager....if you have one.

Here is a pic of the finished product. Nice clean/neat install with the option of getting the pager. Its also nice to have the chirp arm/disarm feature.

This is the usual location for the siren on the softail models which is in front of the rear wheel under the panel there....
Remove the two bottom fasteners and lift the panel upwards to remove it.

Also, learned that on the Softail Deluxe 2008 the alarm mounts with the connector UP not down as in the (dis)tructions. It is held in place by the fender extender and the clips only add some tension but not "click" the unit in.

I would recheck the connection. They usually click in to lock the unit in so you don't loose it. Sometimes they need a good push to lock it in.

Re: Smart Siren II installation

I just bought one for my 08 Ultra and it won't snap into place. it seems as if it's too big and if I force it, I think the clips will break. The box says 68328-06, but the siren itself says "Model number 68970-06." Anyone else have trouble pushing the siren in to place?

It is a plug-in add on to the factory security system.Installation is breeze, you still have the cool blinking lights, but it now goes "chirp-chirp" too! Dig it!

Re: Smart Siren II installation

Thanks, Glider for the write-up and pics. I just installed the siren on my 09 RG and it was one of the easiest add-ons to install. Plus, while I had the hard bag off on the one side, I polished up everything behind it (and did the other side as well). So killed two birds w/ one stone so to speak.

Have fun and ride safe.

Re: Smart Siren II installation

Glider,

Many thanks! I just completed install of the Smart Siren II on my 2008 Street Glide. Used your instructions (didn't even open the HD instructions). Everything worked perfectly.
