After a few weeks working on this issue with our member "joyflyin" about why she had no chirp on a recent installation of the optional siren in her alarm system in her 05 Deuce, there's finally an answer to the mystery.
There are TWO sirens available for the HD security system and the part numbers are the same except... click here to read the entire tip ► |

Re: Chirp/No Chirp Smart Siren Differences
Thank you glider! However this solution seems to apply for models >06. With my '06 Fatboy I have to arm/disarm by hitting the key fob...
When I turn the ignition on the key lamp lights for about 2 seconds, when I turn it off... no key lamp at all! |

Thanks again glider, yes actually I read the whole thread.
The description provided there didn't work on my bike because on the '06 Softail models the alarm system is armed/disarmed by the key fob not the ignition. It took some time for me to realize that JerseyBikers explanation (thanks for that too) means that the security system has to be turned on/off in this sequence and not necessarily the ignition, only for models > 06. Finally I tried the sequence with the key fob and it worked! In summary for every searching one (like me) here how to activate/deactivate the chirps during arming/disarming the security system with syren II and key fob (I guess models < 07): Follow the instructions in this thread (post #5) Alarm Chirp Mode (smart FOB) - Harley Davidson Community "Alarm Chirp Mode (smart FOB)" BUT don't turn on/off the ignition as described (since this will work for models >06 only) use the key fob to arm/disarm the security system instead. This info might be redundant but I would have needed exactly this info before. Have a save ride!

Thanks for the input on this, I'm sure it will come in handy for someone else down the road.
I inserted the thread link in your post. |
