Re: What do you Collect
Oh man don't I know it!! I distinctly remember having Roberto Clemente's ROOKIE card on a cork poster board stuck up with tacks!! I think about that and the comic books I bought for a DIME and the hot wheels cars.
I bought a G.I. Joe on an Army H-D courier bike a couple of years ago. My son had a fit because I wouldn't take it out and let him play with it so there I went, right back to the store and bought him one to play with. Mine's still in the box and will stay there. I'm thinking about insuring THAT!!

Joe, think about all the really valuable cards we smashed up in the spokes of our Huffy's to try to make them sound like Harley's when we were kids. That oughta make ya sick all over again!

Re: What do you Collect
Yeah, and now the PC police are trying to make G. I. Joe politically correct.
![]() I collect wood handle kitchen utensils. I only have red ones right now, but would love to get some of the green ones. I also collect the old stoneware jugs you could buy at most grocery/hardware/feed stores back in the day. And I have all of my daughters Holiday Barbies from the very first one. I've got two card boxes packed full of baseball cards from the 80's. I have no idea what's in there or what they're worth. I used to have a huge collection of carnival and ruby glass, but lost it all in a house fire.

Re: What do you Collect
Yeah, they neutered Joe when they shrunk him, IMHO. My step-dad's favorite winter sport used to be auction hopping. He'd bid on box-lots of--in Mom's words-- a bunch of someone else's crap the junkman wouldn't want. Well, more often than not there would be a buttload of carnival glass in those boxes. Mom stood firm and the glass went in the trash.
Just like my G.I.Joes and ball cards and every other treasure a kid can see but parents just consider clutter. I started buying Holiday Barbies for my daughters, wife, and niece. I forget when--2000, maybe? My daughters had to play with them, of course, but my wife's are all still boxed up. Same as with the G.I. Joes I bought in triplicate for my boys and me![]() I've got some of those utensils from my Granny. One I've seen millions of times--kind of like you would use it to dip out french fries or whatever from oil. I've got green and red both. Not alot, but a few pieces. BTW, isn't Tennessee where those jugs go after they've been used? Seems like everywhere you go in Tn. there's jugs sitting around. Kind of like the old jugs home, I guess ![]()

Re: What do you Collect
Heck, they're still bustin' up stills in these parts! I sometimes wonder if that's where a lot of those jugs came from! The jugs I have came from Williamsville, Ms. The store is owned my Archie Mannings in-laws. I used to hang out there when I was growing up.
They reported on the news last night that they made a big bust in Lynchburg. LOTS of collectible Jack Daniels stuff found in two or three stores, a couple of warehouse and a house. My father in law collects JD stuff and has a butt load of it! Jeez, I wanna buy the Pot Cave! He he! Ain't no tellin' what you'll find in there!

Re: What do you Collect
I think the last still around here was busted around 1992. It can still be had, but you have to go through two or three layers to get to it. Only place you can see liquor jugs is usually at flea markets or in a museum. Not NEAR as plentiful as up there. Most of the liquor around here comes in 40 oz. beer bottles or gallon milk jugs. We usually cut it with kool-aid or lemonade to get it down
