Re: Pointers for Kick Starting a New 1997 S&S 100ci
Bike on jiffy stand, WITH THE INGNITION OFF, gas on, using left leg, push kicker thru slowly one or 2 times. This primes the motor.
You want to have the kicker at the top of it's throw (or just below it and on compression). You'll feel the resistance. Enrichener on, maybe (this will depend on what motor likes) just crack the throttle (maybe, if the motor likes it, or twist it half way then release it before you kick the motor over to get fuel to the carb, it just depends...).
Push the kick down sharply, using left leg (this puts all your body weight on the pedal) and GET OFF THE PEDAL AT THE END OF THE STROKE! Do not keep your foot on it! If you do, it could break your foot, ankle or throw you over the bike if it kickes back!
Be sure to take video and post it. I'd love to hear this thing run...
Also, be sure to clean the carb, change the gas and all fluids. If it has been sitting for 2 years, you need to go thru it before you attempt to start it.
