Agree on plug color what I have seens is they are now even were as befor front and rear were different.
I can measure and show the bike does run a bit cooler idle and running down the road. What I can not measure is the stronger throttle responce I seem to be getting and the slightly faster starts.
I start my bike in the garage a lot I have notice a slighty fuel smell when I start it now that was not there befor. It is not much but is there.
I am leaving today 150 mile highway ride work stuff will see how bike acts.
Yesterdays ride was 5 hours country roads with wife all up and own the rpm range. As I said befor the slight poping came when I was riding Hobbit style

. I am sure you know what I mean and came when backing off the fuel.

The IED's only work in cruise, why would you only want to richen up one area without dealing with the others even thou you spend most of the time in that area ?
As far as the color of the plugs, with the removal of the tetraethyl lead years ago, the only thing you see from the color of the plug is the fuel additives. If you change brands, the color changes too in many cases.
You can tell the heat range and if it's proper by the color of the ground strap and where it turns color but to use them as a diagnostic feature, it's not like it used to be. Looking deep in the tip of the plug with a 10X magnifier is about the only proper way of getting anything out of plug reading.
