i have no idea what the baffle looks like out of a stock HD can as i have never opened one up, always just replaced the either full system or Slip ons (we need stock intact for mot's), got a pic of the stock baffle?
on a metric it is a collection of pipes and is seperated intp 3 sections removing the rear section closest to the outlet on a vstar resulted in the vtwin sound and did not really effect performance or running as the other 2 sections remained, gutting the 2nd section resulted in a mixture change and total gutting sounded rubbish and poor running with out a rejet
I would invest in either a set of Slip on exhausts, either Rush/SE/Vance and Hines pop to some meets and see what others are running so you can hear them before deciding.
