I had removed to old one to install a fan. I did not like the one that came with the fan, so this was my fix.

Put the two brackets together it makes them stronger the large hole is just right for tank mount. All I did for wires to the second one is jumper them I used 12ga wire for all of it but I am sure 14ga would be plenty.
once installed you can bens brackets a bit to make sure nothing touches.
I covered and protected the wires and bent the connecters at the horn 90 degress so they fit better.
I am sure you will figure it all out.
